The Criminal Court in Diyala Governorate has issued ten-year prison sentences for three convicts involved in the embezzlement of public funds allocated for the compensation of victims of terrorist operations. Investigations revealed that the convicts exploited their official positions at
the governorate's office to issue hundreds of fictitious checks, illegally transferring financial amounts from the compensation account to operating advance accounts. The sentences were handed down in accordance with the penal code articles concerning embezzlement and damage to public funds.
