Civil defense teams succeeded in fully controlling a fire that broke out inside a factory and a group of commercial shops specialized in selling sponges in the Sanaa Square area of the capital, Baghdad. The directorate mobilized its teams immediately upon receiving the report and began breakthrough and firefighting operations, during which they persevered in containing the fire and isolating it from neighboring factories and warehouses to prevent its spread in the area.
The teams successfully completed extinguishing and cooling operations after rescuing four workers who were injured due to dense gas emissions, without recording significant human losses. Work is underway to remove causes of danger and fully secure the site pending a forensic report to determine the causes of the incident.
