Photography Inside Government Departments.. A Fine Line Between Transparency and Legal Accountability

Legal expert Ali Habib emphasized on Sunday that the ongoing dispute regarding the ban on citizens filming review processes inside government institutions represents a complex overlap between a constitutionally guaranteed right to transparency and security and organizational necessities. In a press interview, Habib clarified that the constitution guarantees freedom of access to information, but within legal frameworks that protect the workflow and individuals' privacy. He pointed out that banning photography without a clear legal basis is a real problem, calling for the drafting of precise legislation that separates an individual's right to expose corruption from an institution's right to protect its security and data, in order to reduce the current administrative confusion.
