British Study: Sunlight Resets Skin's Biological Clock and Accelerates Aging

A research team from the British University of Manchester concluded that prolonged exposure to sunlight, particularly ultraviolet rays, disrupts the biological balance within the skin, leading to accelerated aging beyond what was previously believed.

The study relied on comparing skin samples exposed to sunlight with unexposed samples, revealing that chronic exposure weakens the daily rhythms of genes responsible for cell repair and DNA protection.

The researchers explained that damaged skin is unable to activate usual cellular repair mechanisms during nighttime, which explains the appearance of inflammations, the development of photoaging, and gradual structural damage.

They recommended limiting sun exposure during peak hours, avoiding extremely hot or cold air repeatedly, and adopting a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and collagen sources.
