Parliamentary Moves to Halt Licensing Procedures for "Starlink" Network in Iraq

Parliamentary figures have called on Iraq's legislative, executive, and judicial authorities to urgently intervene to halt the licensing procedures for "Starlink" satellite internet services. The demands were based on a series of regulatory observations highlighting potential security and economic risks. Opposing voices clarified that granting this license could compromise national sovereignty and expose citizens' data and communications to the operating company. Warnings were also issued that the expected financial returns for the state are negligible compared to the economic damage that could be inflicted on the local telecom sector, both public and private, in addition to its negative impact on optical cable infrastructure projects.
