The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced in an official statement on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) the imposition of sanctions on 14 entities and individuals in three countries for supporting Iran's ballistic missile and drone programs. The sanctions included companies in Turkey, the UAE, and Iran working in smuggling chemical materials used in manufacturing rocket fuel. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that "the Iranian regime must be held accountable for its extortion of global energy markets and indiscriminate targeting of civilians." These sanctions come within the framework of the "Economic Fury" campaign launched by the Trump administration, representing the fifth round of sanctions since the reimposition of international sanctions on Iran in September 2025.
