An officer was killed and another injured in a drone attack targeting the Iraqi National Intelligence Service headquarters in central Baghdad on Saturday. This attack coincided with a series of separate security incidents that left eight civilians injured, amid the ongoing repercussions of the regional war.
An official statement from the intelligence service confirmed a "terrorist" targeting of its perimeter, located in a residential neighborhood, by outlawed groups. Security sources told Mada Al-Rafidain News that the attack hit a "communications building," which serves as the agency's
information processing unit. Another reconnaissance drone fell inside a social club in the upscale Al-Mansour area of the capital.
In related field incidents, four people were injured when a projectile struck their home in the Al-Saidiya area, southwest of Baghdad. Hours later, four others, including a woman, were wounded after a drone fell near residential houses in Abu Ghraib, close to the Baghdad International Airport complex.
Further north, two explosions of unknown origin were heard in Erbil on Saturday evening, where air defenses continuously intercept drones around the airport hosting Global Coalition forces. Meanwhile, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced the death of one member and
injuries to others in a strike on a military base in northern Iraq, holding the US and Israel responsible.
