Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani confirmed on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) the continued success of pediatric open-heart surgeries in the governorate, noting that this achievement comes after the success achieved in the "Zahraa" operation, constituting an important step in developing the health sector.
Al-Eidani stated that these successes were achieved through the efforts of the medical staff in the Basra Health Department, which proved its ability to perform precise operations that previously required travel outside Iraq.
He added that what has been achieved today embodies what was previously emphasized that "the first of the rain is a flower," indicating that these achievements will be the beginning of a series of medical successes that serve the people of the governorate.
Al-Eidani expressed his thanks and gratitude to all medical and health staff who contributed to achieving this development, affirming the local government's continued support for the health sector.
