Former member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Baqir Al-Saadi, attributed on Sunday the continuous rise in traffic accident rates in the country to three fundamental reasons, warning of the continuation of this phenomenon that leaves thousands of victims annually. In press statements, Al-Saadi said that 45% of fatal accidents are concentrated on highways, attributing this to the recklessness of some drivers and their exceeding speed limits, in addition to the poor condition of roads and their potholes, as well as severe traffic congestion. In a related context, traffic sources confirmed that fatigue and non-compliance with traffic rules represent the most prominent human factor in these tragedies, emphasizing the need to activate maximum deterrent penalties.
