Parliamentary Demands for Investigation into Suspected Corruption and Violations in Traffic Directorate Motorcycle Supply Contract

Iraqi parliamentary sources have revealed serious violations in a government contract signed to supply the General Traffic Directorate with hundreds of motorcycles in Al Anbar Governorate, pointing to suspicions regarding the contract's high value and the technical specifications of the vehicles. Lawmakers explained in media statements that the cost of a single motorcycle is equivalent to the price of a modern car, in addition to a discrepancy between the models actually imported and those stipulated in the official contract clauses. Parliamentary circles have called on regulatory and judicial authorities to open an immediate and comprehensive investigation to audit the referral and receipt procedures, technical specifications, and ensure the implementation of the training and maintenance clauses included in the contract.
