The Iraqi Ministry of Health confirmed that no Hantavirus cases have been recorded within the country's territory, stating that the current epidemiological situation is stable.
The official spokesperson clarified that monitoring teams conduct daily surveillance of developments at both global and regional levels, affirming the implementation of proactive measures including strengthening the epidemiological surveillance system, disseminating scientific bulletins to health departments, as well as enforcing infection control procedures and raising health awareness regarding transmission methods and prevention measures.
It is worth noting that Hantavirus is classified as a zoonotic disease transmitted through rodents, and may cause severe symptoms depending on the virus type and geographic region, while the World Health Organization has assessed the global risk level of the event as low.
