Iraqi Judiciary Sentences Former Local Official and Wife for Illicit Enrichment

The Nasiriyah Misdemeanor Court has sentenced the former director of Nasiriyah Municipality Property and his wife, an employee in the same department, to five years of rigorous imprisonment for illicit enrichment and unexplained wealth accumulation. According to an official judicial statement, the verdict was issued pursuant to Article 19 (Third) of the Integrity and Illicit Enrichment Law, alongside relevant provisions of the Penal Code, reinforcing ongoing judicial anti-corruption initiatives.
