The Grand Faw Port project is more than just a maritime harbor; it is a comprehensive economic project aimed at diversifying national income sources and reducing excessive dependence on oil rent. Work continues on constructing the navigation channel and the
breakwater, which is the longest in the world, in preparation for starting experimental operations in the near future. Economists explained that the port will create an attractive environment for manufacturing industries that rely on imported raw materials, adding value to
the national economy. The port will also provide support and catering services for passing ships, opening new fields of work in the services, transport, and telecommunications sectors, directly contributing to transforming Iraq into a trade bridge linking the three continents.
