Employment circles in a number of Iraqi universities and government departments are witnessing escalating protests due to delays in the regular disbursement of monthly salaries, imposing increasing pressure on the government to find urgent solutions. Government officials attribute this delay
to a liquidity crisis and a financial deficit hindering the completion of funding, while protesting employees assert that the absence of a fixed disbursement date has disrupted their household budgets and forced some into debt to cover basic expenses such
as rent and medical treatment. Specialists warn of the social and economic repercussions of this continuing crisis, indicating that delaying the disbursement of dues for over 45 days threatens the living stability of employees whose salaries often do not exceed
500,000 dinars. This requires immediate government intervention to guarantee employment rights and disburse salaries on time to avert further tension.
