Formation of the Supreme Sovereign Council for Integrity to Combat Corruption and Recover Public Funds

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi directed on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the establishment of the Supreme Sovereign Council for Integrity, Oversight, and the Recovery of Public Funds. This came during an extensive meeting dedicated to reviewing mechanisms for auditing government contracts, attended by prominent oversight and judicial leaders. It was decided that the Prime Minister will chair this council, with the heads of the Federal Board of Supreme Audit and the Federal Integrity Commission serving as members. The council aims to track significant oversight files with economic impact across various state institutions to curb financial waste, prior to referring them to the judiciary. The directive also emphasized the importance of verifying the economic feasibility of projects and forming a central committee for the proactive auditing of contracts to ensure their compliance with existing laws and financial allocations before their execution.
