Diyala Launches Comprehensive Preventive Plan to Combat Hemorrhagic Fever Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Local authorities in Diyala province announced the launch of an extensive preventive plan to counter Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) following the recent confirmation of five cases. These proactive measures are being implemented amid growing medical warnings regarding the virus's severity, particularly with the approaching Eid al-Adha season and the anticipated increase in livestock trade and movement.

The Head of the Provincial Council explained that the plan, the largest of its kind in Diyala, focuses on three main pillars: launching comprehensive public health awareness campaigns on prevention methods, tightening supervision of slaughterhouses and ensuring butchers adhere to health standards, and activating veterinary control procedures regarding the transport of animals between areas.

Health authorities confirmed that the infected individuals are in stable condition and no fatalities have been recorded thus far. It is noteworthy that CCHF is a severe viral disease transmitted to humans through tick bites or direct contact with the blood and tissues of infected animals, necessitating strict preventive measures to limit its spread.
