Security forces in Dhi Qar province announced the dismantling of a dangerous cyber extortion network and the arrest of two of its key suspects following a specialized security operation conducted in the eastern part of the province.
An informed security source reported that a joint security team, acting on intensive intelligence efforts spanning two weeks, successfully executed a well-planned ambush, leading to the apprehension of the suspects, who are considered among the most dangerous individuals involved in this type of crime.
The source added that security forces confiscated mobile phones from one of the detainees containing compromised accounts belonging to several victims, which were used for threats and financial extortion. The operation was based on precise intelligence, and investigations are ongoing
to uncover further details, potential victims, and the identities of any other individuals involved in this network.
