Basra Workers' Syndicates Demand Immediate Investigation Following Worker's Death in a Sewage Station

The Federation of Workers' Syndicates in Basra Province demanded on Friday that relevant authorities launch an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a worker while on duty inside a sewage station in the Internal Security area. In an official statement, the Federation's President, Ahmed Fahmi Al-Khafaji, emphasized that workers' lives and their right to a safe working environment are a top priority that cannot be compromised. Al-Khafaji called for holding accountable any party found negligent in providing safety and rescue equipment, stressing that the Federation will monitor the investigation to ensure the implementation of occupational health and safety standards across all worksites, while offering his condolences to the deceased's family.
