Agricultural specialists have stated that Iraq possesses the necessary potential to achieve self-sufficiency in various crops, yet this goal faces ongoing administrative, environmental, and economic hurdles. Foremost among these challenges are weak agricultural policies, insufficient government support, unregulated imports, and
the water scarcity crisis. Experts emphasized the importance of a comprehensive review of agricultural policies to provide subsidized production inputs and the adoption of modern irrigation technologies to minimize water waste. They also called for activating partnerships between the government
and the private sector to protect national products and transform the agricultural sector into a fundamental pillar for food security.
