5G Officially Enters Iraq Through Baghdad and Basra Gateways

After years of waiting, mobile telecommunications services of the fifth generation entered into actual implementation in Iraq, through the granting of official operating licenses to three major telecom companies. The inaugural phase of the project focused on the capital Baghdad and the economic province of Basra, where dozens of transmission towers were equipped with the latest global technologies. This step is expected to bring about a radical change in the telecommunications and technology sector, allowing users a fast browsing experience with speeds up to ten times current 4G speeds. The Communications Commission affirmed that the expansion plan will gradually include all governorates, with package pricing commensurate with citizens' purchasing power, and special packages for the government and academic sectors. Specialists hope this step will contribute to attracting new technological investments and providing job opportunities for youth.
