The Civil Defense Directorate announced today, Thursday (May 7, 2026), the recovery of the bodies of seven victims following a horrific traffic accident in Diwaniyah Governorate.
The directorate stated in an official statement that rescue teams in Diwaniyah Governorate completed the difficult recovery of seven victims who lost their lives in a violent collision in Al-Budayr district between a Yukon SUV and a semi-trailer truck.
It noted that rescue teams rushed to the accident site immediately after it occurred and made extraordinary efforts to remove the bodies from the wreckage of both vehicles, confirming that the victims were later transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department in accordance with established legal procedures.
A source from the Diwaniyah Health Directorate had earlier reported that the death toll from the horrific traffic accident near Al-Budayr town, south of the governorate, had risen to seven, in addition to two critically injured individuals.
