Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani chaired today, Monday (May 4, 2026), a meeting of the Economic Ministerial Council to discuss important economic files and take decisions supporting the agricultural sector.
The council reviewed topics related to the agricultural sector, demands received from farmers, proposals submitted by agricultural associations and the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade.
The council approved a set of recommendations, including immediate payment of farmers' dues upon marketing the wheat crop, as well as discussing marketing prices, harvest quantities, irrigation methods, and seed prices.
The council issued a decision to lift the ban on importing table eggs, aiming to maintain prices of basic food commodities, and tasked the special committee with presenting recommendations within a specified period.
