The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee has recommended the dismissal of the Naval Forces Commander and the Director of Operations, following proven negligence in providing the necessary protection for Iraqi fishermen. This recommendation came after the committee hosted the fishermen's
families and their association, in coordination with the Army Chief of Staff, where it was agreed to appoint new leadership to manage the Naval Force. The committee emphasized the necessity of respecting the rights and dignity of Iraqi fishermen within
territorial waters, stressing that no harm or negligence in protecting their lives and livelihoods will be tolerated.
