OpenAI Unveils "Codex Micro" Smart Hardware Controller for Developers

OpenAI launched Codex Micro, a specialized hardware controller priced at $230, engineered to interface with its Codex AI programming environment. Featuring 12 programmable keys, a directional joystick, and a tactile control knob, the device enables software engineers to execute complex coding workflows and adjust AI reasoning levels efficiently. Developed in partnership with Canadian hardware manufacturer Work Louder, Codex Micro marks OpenAI’s entry into physical hardware, offering cross-platform support for Windows and macOS via Bluetooth or USB-C connectivity.
