Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari directed, on Monday (April 27, 2026), the Director of the Legal Department in the ministry to head to Najaf Governorate to follow up on the circumstances of the incident at Al-Amirat Police Station.
The ministry stated in an official statement that "Al-Shammari instructed the Director of the Legal Department to meet with a number of lawyers and inspect the details of the incident that occurred inside the station, and the dispute that accompanied it between a police affiliate and one of the lawyers."
It added that "this step comes to follow up on the investigation proceedings and listen to all concerned parties, with the aim of reaching the complete facts and taking appropriate legal measures according to approved contexts."
The Minister of Interior affirmed "the ministry's keenness to protect the dignity of citizens and legal professionals," stressing that "the law is above everyone, and no transgression that undermines the prestige of institutions or the rights of individuals is allowed."
