Major Crude Oil Smuggling Operation Thwarted in Basra Governorate

Competent security agencies announced on Tuesday the thwarting of an organized crude oil smuggling operation on the highway connecting the Basra and Dhi Qar governorates. Sources explained that security detachments, following precise intelligence efforts and judicial approvals, uncovered a strategic breach involving an underground high-pressure pipe extending over 500 meters, connected to the main transmission pipeline for theft purposes. The operation resulted in the seizure of two tanker trucks at the site; one was loaded with crude oil and attempting to flee, while the other was empty and prepared for loading. All seized items and the entire case file have been handed over to judicial and relevant authorities for strict legal action.
