In a decisive move to enforce the rule of law and protect water resources, the Ministry of Water Resources announced the launch of a major national campaign in early November to remove all violations on the irrigation system, including unlicensed
fish lakes, ensuring equitable water distribution. This came during an extensive meeting where officials discussed institutional performance evaluation, combating the spread of water hyacinth, and reviewing the completion rates of government program projects. Additionally, a draft memorandum of understanding was
approved to develop water management mechanisms in cooperation with Algeria, alongside technical presentations to update the strategic water resources study up to 2035 and monitor the designs of the barrage in Basra province to enhance optimal water management.
