Joint Operations Command Issues Clarification on Security Situation in Iraqi Desert

The Joint Operations Command issued a clarification statement regarding circulating reports about the presence of unauthorized bases and forces in the desert areas of Karbala east of Nukhayb and Najaf. The command confirmed that the incident dates back to the fifth of March, when a security force from Karbala and Najaf operations command moved and clashed with unidentified unlicensed squadrons supported by aircraft, resulting in the martyrdom of one fighter and the injury of two others, as well as the disabling of a vehicle. The command noted that security units continued to pressure and maintain presence in the area, forcing those squadrons to withdraw under air cover. It affirmed that security forces continue to inspect all sectors regularly, especially desert areas up to the international borders, confirming that Iraqi territory is free of any unauthorized bases or forces since that date. The command stressed that legal measures will be taken against anyone spreading misleading information or malicious rumors that harm Iraq's sovereignty and the prestige of its security institutions.
