Iraqi-Syrian Technical Agreement to Enhance Sustainable Management of Shared Water Resources

Iraq and Syria have concluded a joint technical agreement aimed at strengthening frameworks of cooperation and coordination in managing the water file between the two countries. The official minutes were signed in the capital, Baghdad, following a series of bilateral discussions involving specialized technical delegations from the Ministries of Water Resources and Energy of both nations. The talks focused on mechanisms for exchanging technical and informational data, and developing joint strategies for managing shared river basins to ensure equitable and sustainable water distribution. Both sides affirmed their commitment to maintaining direct channels of dialogue to unify technical visions and efforts, thereby contributing to the protection of the water rights of both countries and confronting mutual environmental and climate challenges.
