The Iraqi Ministry of Interior revealed significant achievements in the field of anti-narcotics, successfully thwarting attempts to smuggle more than 16 tons of illicit drugs and preventing their entry into the country over the past three years. Close cooperation between
security agencies and the Iraqi judiciary has resulted in hundreds of deterrent sentences, including capital punishment and life imprisonment for those convicted of drug trafficking, marking a notable and exceptional increase compared to previous years. Security forces have also bolstered
their intelligence efforts by establishing dozens of contact points with neighboring and regional countries, shifting their strategy from internal defense to direct confrontation and executing proactive, qualitative operations beyond the borders.
