Iranian Parliament Speaker: Continuation of Current Situation Unsustainable for America

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, affirmed on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) that the continuation of the current situation is unsustainable for America.

Qalibaf stated via the "X" platform that "the new equation in the Strait of Hormuz is currently being established," confirming that "navigation security and energy transit are at risk by the United States and its allies through violating the ceasefire and imposing the blockade, and certainly their evil will end soon."

Qalibaf pointed out that "the continuation of the current situation is unsustainable for America," explaining: "We well understand that the continuation of the current situation is something the United States cannot bear, while we have not even started yet."

Qalibaf's statements come amid escalating tension in the Strait of Hormuz following a series of attacks targeting commercial vessels, and increasing American military activity in the region, in the context of the war that has erupted since February 28 between the United States and Iran, during which Tehran reinforced its policy of "changing transit rules" in the strait, imposing new procedures on ships not linked to Washington or Israel.
