Hajj Supplies Spark Outrage Among Iraqi Pilgrims: Low Quality for Exorbitant Costs

Iraqi pilgrims began today, Thursday (May 7, 2026), receiving their supplies designated for the Hajj season from distribution centers affiliated with the Hajj and Umrah Authority in Baghdad and the provinces.

Informed sources reported that the distributed materials included a toothbrush, a sun umbrella, and toothpaste of very basic quality, with a wholesale market value not exceeding 500 Iraqi dinars.

The pilgrims expressed their dissatisfaction with the poor quality of these supplies, especially since Hajj costs for this year reached approximately seven million Iraqi dinars, considering these items merely symbolic and disproportionate to the amounts paid.

The Hajj file in Iraq remains a subject of annual discussions regarding the quality of services provided, ranging from accommodation and meals to organization, transportation, and the basic supplies received by each pilgrim.
