The Imam Zain Al-Abidin Educational Hospital affiliated with the Holy Husseiniya Shrine announced the success of the first two liver transplant operations performed simultaneously in Iraq. The step was described as a qualitative leap in the Iraqi health sector. The hospital director confirmed that the two operations were performed with complete success and at the same time, after efforts and preparations that lasted for more than a year and a half, which included establishing an integrated and specialized center for liver transplantation and equipping it with the latest medical devices, in addition to preparing operating rooms, recovery rooms, intensive care units, and inpatient wards according to the highest medical standards. He indicated that this achievement represents an important beginning for performing more liver transplant operations inside Iraq and reducing the need to travel abroad to receive this type of treatment.
