Economic Expert Reveals Financial Spending Figures of Parliament and Affiliated Bodies, Demanding Transparency

Economic expert Nabil Al-Marsoumi presented detailed financial data regarding the actual spending of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and its affiliated bodies during 2025, based on the Ministry of Finance's financial accounts and the tripartite budget. The data revealed that total spending reached 618.253 billion dinars, with employee compensation accounting for the largest share at over 551 billion dinars. The report disclosed that the total number of employees in the parliament and linked entities reached 12,480, with an estimated average monthly salary of 3.6 million dinars per employee—equivalent to twelve times the minimum wage in Iraq. Al-Marsoumi openly challenged legislative authorities to respond to these figures with precise, documented statistical evidence.
