Member of the Coordination Framework Abdul Samad Al-Zarkoushi announced today, Monday (May 4, 2026), the resolution of the sovereign ministries file within consultations to form the new government, expecting the presentation of Ali Al-Zaidi's ministerial cabinet to not exceed two weeks in preparation for a vote in the House of Representatives.
Al-Zarkoushi explained that Al-Zaidi's nomination came based on a prior political consensus between the Framework's forces and other political forces of various spectra, regarding the form of the upcoming government and the entitlements of forces according to election results.
He indicated that resolving the sovereign ministries file places us at an advanced stage, noting the absence of significant objections from political forces, which enhances the chances of passing the government without complications.
Al-Zarkoushi pointed out that recent visits and meetings in Baghdad, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah contributed to accelerating the pace of political understandings and gave clear momentum to the government formation process.
