The Green Zone traffic department in Baghdad has activated new regulatory measures near the entrance of the Green Zone to ease traffic congestion and improve traffic flow. The measures include setting up barriers and traffic guidance to direct citizens to
alternative routes and prevent gridlock. A security source stated that this step also aims to advise citizens not to head to the area unless necessary, thereby speeding up security and service procedures. The source noted that work is ongoing to
update field measures to reduce traffic jams, especially during peak hours, coinciding with heightened security measures and a complete closure of the Green Zone due to the historic parliamentary confidence vote for the new government.
