rafidainscope - The leader of the Sadrist movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, issued on Thursday (September 10, 2026) a set of recommendations concerning Najaf Governorate, warning against religious and health violations and banning the use of images of the Al-Sadr family for commercial purposes.
In a published statement, al-Sadr said that Najaf is the capital of Shiism worldwide, and therefore no actions should emanate that offend this holy city, pointing first to the market and the religious and health violations occurring there.
He recommended strict oversight of markets, restaurants, shops, and all other products, which must comply with religious and health rules, stressing that women working in public transport, especially Iraqi flights heading to Najaf and its airport, must wear the hijab.
He also called for banning prohibited goods, as well as food and drink, and everything inconsistent with the anti-normalization law and with divine and human laws.
Al-Sadr announced an absolute ban on the use of images of the Al-Sadr family in all commercial fields, stressing that this is improper and diminishes the family, and that if there is no response, necessary measures will be taken.
He concluded by affirming that the reputation of the Al-Sadr family and the reputation of Najaf are red lines that must not be crossed in any way.
