Accelerated Steps to Complete Electricity Interconnection Projects and Ensure Supply Stability

The Iraqi government gives top priority to electricity interconnection projects with neighboring countries as a strategic short and medium-term solution to end the energy shortage crisis. Technical reports confirmed the completion of transmission lines with the Jordanian side and the start of final tests to ensure the system's readiness. At the same time, the interconnection project with the Gulf countries is progressing steadily, with interconnection station sites identified in southern Iraq. This interconnection will provide great flexibility in managing the national grid and exchanging energy during peak times, contributing to the stability of supply hours for citizens and reducing grid waste. This direction is part of a comprehensive vision to develop the energy sector, including increasing local production and improving distribution and electronic billing networks to ensure service sustainability.
