Rescue of a Young Man from a Suicide Attempt in the Tigris River, Maysan

River Police detachments in Maysan Governorate successfully thwarted a suicide attempt by a young man who threw himself into the Tigris River from the Jumhuriya Bridge in central Amarah. The provincial police command reported that river patrols, during their routine duties to secure the riverbanks, spotted the young man and rushed to intervene immediately. He was pulled from the water and provided with first aid before being brought to safety and handed over to the competent authorities for formal procedures.
