Abdul Samad Al-Zarkoushi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Friday (May 15, 2026) that the session to grant confidence to the government of Mr. Ali Al-Zaidi raised questions and was unexpected, warning of multi-dimensional political repercussions if previous
agreements are not adhered to. Al-Zarkoushi explained that the session was preceded by clear political understandings and agreements regarding the entitlements of blocs and ministerial portfolios, but what occurred during it raised questions, most notably the withdrawal of some forces
from their commitments and abstaining from voting for specific bloc candidates. He added that what happened will be reviewed, and a meeting is scheduled in the coming days to study the proceedings of the session, particularly within the Coordination Framework.
He stressed that failure to adhere to the agreements will have repercussions within the House of Representatives and may extend to local governments in the governorates. Al-Zarkoushi called on political forces to adhere to the agreements to avoid multiple complications,
indicating that the situation could become more complex if this trajectory continues. He concluded that the coming period will witness movements and meetings to reaffirm the understandings, because the repercussions of any backtracking will extend beyond the parliament to the
governorates. It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives voted on Thursday to grant confidence to the government of Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, postponing the vote on 9 ministries and deputy prime ministers until after Eid al-Adha.
