Parliamentary Warnings Over Escalating River Pollution and Demands for Urgent Government Intervention

Former head of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Furat Al-Tamimi, warned of the increasing risks of river pollution, emphasizing that addressing the so-called "black corridors" requires direct intervention from the Prime Minister to stop violations threatening the environment and public health. He explained that these corridors consist of drainage pipes dumping massive amounts of polluted water and waste into major rivers daily. Al-Tamimi pointed out that circulated visual media reflects the scale of the crisis, calling for stricter measures to hold perpetrators accountable. He affirmed that the Ministry of Environment possesses deterrent legal tools, but eradicating the issue radically requires direct governmental support, stressing the need for joint efforts to protect the rivers, which are a vital artery for life and the economy.
