The French Ministry of Defense has denied having any current confirmation regarding reports of naval mines planted in the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry stated that despite the uncertainty, preparations are underway to address any contingencies, including potential mine-clearing missions.
It noted the deployment of minesweepers to the region to operate within a potential joint mission, in addition to the presence of a French minesweeper stationed at its military base in Djibouti.
