The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has announced a comprehensive plan to end associated gas flaring and achieve self-sufficiency in natural gas by developing major gas fields, such as the Mansouriya and Akkas fields. Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudhair stated during official remarks from Washington that the ministry is adopting a strategic vision to diversify oil export outlets away from traditional routes. He revealed the signing of memorandums of understanding with an international consortium to study the construction of a strategic pipeline stretching from Basra to Kirkuk and onto the Ceyhan port, with potential branches to the ports of Baniyas and Aqaba, aiming to enhance export security and mitigate regional risks.
