Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad discussed bilateral cooperation in the telecommunications sector with his Iranian counterpart, Sattar Hashemi. The talks focused on enhancing joint coordination during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, as well as exchanging expertise in cybersecurity, digital transformation, and electronic
payments. In an official statement, the Ministry highlighted that the Iranian side possesses advanced capabilities in cybersecurity and has made significant strides in digital transformation, including the adoption of sovereign local applications for navigation, transportation, and e-payment. Both sides agreed
to hold joint technical meetings to share knowledge and successful experiences. The statement also noted that Iraq and Iran are connected via six vital fiber-optic border crossings, strengthening their shared infrastructure in light of the close relations between the two
countries.
