Iranian Kurdish Opposition Accuses United Nations of Neglecting Their Protection

The Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties issued a press statement on Monday (April 20, 2026) leveling serious accusations at the United Nations representation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, holding it responsible for its "suspicious silence" regarding repeated attacks on opposition bases in northern Iraq. The alliance stated that "the silence and passivity of the UN mission has encouraged the Iranian regime to commit more aggression and terror against us." These accusations come after a series of missile and drone strikes carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on April 18, resulting in the death of three alliance members and wounding five others. The alliance called on the international community to take urgent action to protect civilians and stop repeated attacks on Iraqi territory.
