Integrity Commission Prevents Waste Worth 7.5 Billion Dinars in Middle Euphrates Electricity

The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Monday (April 27, 2026), that it succeeded in preventing waste worth (7.5) billion dinars, and apprehending (4) employees at the General Company for Electricity Transmission in the Middle Euphrates.

The Commission stated in an official statement that "the Karbala Investigation Office formed a joint work team with the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate in the governorate, comprising specialized engineers, and moved to a warehouse belonging to the company. It was found that the warehouse is unofficial and non-systematic, with no surveillance cameras, in addition to materials left outside on the public street and exposed to theft and deterioration."

It added that "the team inventoried the materials in the warehouse that were preserved, with a value of (7,462,729,177) dinars, noting that the General Company for Electricity Transmission in the Middle Euphrates determined their value, and indicated the apprehension of (4) company employees for causing damage to public funds."

It explained that "the materials in the warehouse are surplus from projects implemented by the company through direct execution, and that the accused took advantage of them to achieve personal benefit."

It continued that "a seizure report was organized and presented along with the accused before the judge of the Karbala Investigation Court specialized in integrity cases, who decided to detain them in accordance with the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code."
