The Erbil Traffic Directorate announced new regulations governing vehicle window tinting, establishing an annual fee schedule capped at one million Iraqi Dinars (IQD). Official representatives clarified that the measures apply to private automobiles, taxis, cargo vehicles, and non-local plates owned
by residents of the region, as well as foreign vehicles operating under prescribed terms. Under the new policy, taxis and buses are restricted to a maximum tint level of 50%, with complete prohibition of rear windshield tinting for traffic safety.
Annual fees are categorized by tint intensity: 0-30% is complimentary for factory glass, 30-50% incurs 150,000 IQD, 50-80% costs 300,000 IQD, 80% is set at 500,000 IQD, and tinting exceeding 80% reaches 1,000,000 IQD. Tinting the front windshield remains strictly
prohibited, with strict legal penalties enforced against unauthorized modifications.
