The National Security Service announced on Friday (June 5, 2026) a qualitative strike against drug trafficking networks in the capital, Baghdad, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of contraband. An official statement from the Service explained
that the operation was executed based on precise intelligence and formal judicial approvals. A meticulously planned ambush, following close monitoring of the suspects' movements, led to their capture. The operation resulted in the seizure of quantities of crystal meth, along
with firearms and cash found in their possession. The Service confirmed that the suspects and the confiscated items have been handed over to the competent judicial authorities for necessary legal proceedings.
