70 Tankers in First Batch: Crude Oil Flows from Rabia Crossing to Syria

The Iraqi Border Ports Authority announced today, Friday (May 1, 2026), the actual commencement of crude oil exports through the Rabia border crossing, as the first oil convoys set off towards Syrian territory. The head of the authority, Omar Adnan Al-Waili, explained that the initial shipment consisted of 70 tankers, affirming that this step is part of a strategy to diversify land export outlets and maximize federal revenues. Al-Waili stated that technical teams are working to prepare the infrastructure at the crossing to increase its operational capacity, contributing to reducing maritime transport risks and enhancing the role of border crossings as developmental hubs with neighboring countries.
